When Wayne Gretzky skated onto the ice on January 21st, 1989, he was 4 points shy of passing the great Marcel Dionne for, at the time, second in all time points for an NHL player. Gretzky went on to get 4 points and pass the legend to take over second spot alone. The stick was put away by then trainer Pete Demers after the assist and 4th point of the night. It is likely this stick was used to get all 4 points as he scored his points in the first two periods and got 1772 on his fourth point and the stick shows heavy use to the blade. Unreal accomplishment shortly after being traded to the LA Kings in the biggest deal in NHL history. The Titan TPM 2020 stick you see here, is the exact one from that night as Demers taped and denoted on it, 2nd place all time scoring and on the front over the Gretzky name stamp, save this. Heavy wear to the blade area and date stamping of 208812 for December 20, 1988, for date of manufacture. There is the heel code of 1-002 the 1 is partially covered by Wayne's black bulldog blade tape. The blade is taped in correct Gretzky fashion along with the Black Gripper he started using shortly after his arrival in Los Angeles.  Very rare stick indeed as Gretzky has many of these milestone items in his personal collection along with the Hockey Hall of Fame. It can not be over stated how important this stick is to any Gretzky or stick collector. Very few of these get into private hands so take this opportunity to bring this stick home. No other player will reach Gretzky's total of 2,857. It's a mind boggling number to say the least. Wayne Gretzky played 20 seasons in the NHL for four teams from 1979 to 1999, retiring at the age of 38. Nicknamed "the Great One", he has been called the greatest ice hockey player ever by many sportswriters, players, The Hockey News, and the NHL itself, based on extensive surveys of hockey writers, ex-players, general managers and coaches. Gretzky is the leading career goal scorer, assist producer and point scorer in NHL history, and has more career assists than any other player has total points. He is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season, a feat he accomplished four times. In addition, Gretzky tallied over 100 points in 15 professional seasons, 13 of them consecutive. At the time of his retirement in 1999, he held 61 NHL records: 40 regular season records, 15 playoff records, and 6 All-Star records.
